Smart charging by the spot price
Electricity costs something different every quarter hour. WattVise starts your charger when it's cheapest, pauses it when the price goes up, and has the car charged by the time you leave. You plug in as usual; the rest happens by itself.
How it works
- Connect your charger with the login from its app, and your car with its brand's login.
- Pick your price area (SE1-SE4, or one in Norway, Denmark or Finland) and how the charger should charge.
- Plug in. WattVise checks that it's your car, then starts, pauses and resumes the charging by the price.
Ways to charge cheaply
- Cheap hours
- Charges only when the price is low, or low or normal, compared with the rest of the day, by your own limits in percent or in kr/kWh.
- Smart plan
- Reads the car's battery level and your departure time, and charges in the cheapest quarters that get the car to its target in time, at the car's own measured charging speed.
- Low battery
- Below a level you choose, the car charges at once up to a minimum before it waits for the cheap hours.
- Start now
- When you need the car at once, one press charges it straight away, whatever the price.
What it costs, exactly
Each session is priced per quarter hour at the spot price with your own markup, VAT, time-of-use grid fee and power fee, or at the fixed price you pay. You also see what the same charging would have cost if it had started at once, and so what waiting saved you. Statistics for your EV charging
Only your car
WattVise starts the charging only when it's your car at the charger: by the car's position, by when it was plugged in, or because the charger itself recognises the car. Someone else's car isn't charged on your account.
Ready when you leave
Set when you leave on each weekday. If the car won't make its target in time, you get a notification, and you get one when it's done.
Questions
- Do I need a smart charger?
- You need a charger the app can control over the internet: Zaptec, Easee, Wallbox, Charge Amps, or one that speaks OCPP 1.6J, such as CTEK. WattVise runs in the browser and can be installed on your phone like an app.
- Where do the prices come from?
- The spot prices per quarter hour for your price area, published around 13:00 for the next day; in Sweden from elprisetjustnu.se.
- Which cars can it read?
- Polestar, Volvo, Tesla, BMW and MINI, Kia and Hyundai, Škoda, Volkswagen Group cars through VW's EU Data Act portal, and more through Smartcar. Without the car's battery level the smart plan charges for a set number of hours.
- Does it work in Norway, Denmark and Finland?
- Yes: the spot prices of every price area there are included, in kronor or euro.
